BEFORE YOUR FIRST CONQUEST

A few things to know.

Is Devolution turn-based?: No. Armies move, territories change hands and opponents make their moves in real time. Capturing territory earns gold to recruit more units.
Can I play in my browser?: Yes. Start a solo battle or join an online room with players on the latest direct Mac and Windows previews. Browser saves stay in that browser.
Can I play solo and offline?: Yes in the installed app. Play against AI commanders, save your solo match locally, and continue later. The browser preview loads online and keeps its saves in that browser.
Can I play with friends?: Yes. Browse public games or create an invite-only room. Browser and current direct desktop previews can play together in matching rooms. The Mac App Store edition is still on version 1.0.0 and can use the retained older room. Large battlefields support up to 24 factions, including AI; smaller maps have their own limits. Can we chat during a game?: Yes. Room chat works in the lobby and during a match. Tap Room chat on a phone, or press Enter on a keyboard; you can block players and report messages. Chat and safety controls.
What is new in the latest preview?: Version 1.0.1 lets browser players join matching Mac and Windows rooms. It also includes grand campaigns, lobby and in-game chat, and solo saves.
Which version can I download?: Get the free Mac App Store edition for macOS 13+, the latest direct Mac preview for macOS 11+, or the unsigned 64-bit Windows preview. Use a current direct preview for browser crossplay. Need help? Visit Support.
