What Devolution collects, what stays on your device, and how to contact us about your information.

Who we are
A1Base Inc. operates Devolution and devolutiongame.com. This notice covers this website, the direct-download desktop preview, and our multiplayer directory, hosted rooms and support service. Contact us through Devolution Support for privacy questions, complaints or requests about your data.
The separate iPhone single-player edition has an in-app privacy notice. Apple, TestFlight and other independently operated services have their own policies and settings.
Visiting the website and downloading the game
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes connection and request information such as IP address, requested URL, request time, browser or device information, and security or error events to deliver the website and downloads, maintain reliability, and prevent abuse. Operational logs may be available to us through the hosting service.
We have not added advertising pixels, advertising profiles, cross-site tracking or an account system to this website. Images and fonts are served from this site. The website application does not set marketing cookies or save an advertising identifier in your browser. Cloudflare may use necessary security technologies and process network-error reports. Browser caching and independently operated services have their own storage behaviour.
Cloudflare also provides Web Analytics, which can add a performance-measurement script to pages delivered from this domain. It collects page-view and page-load performance information, such as URL paths, loading timings and visual stability, to help us understand site usage and reliability. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies or browser storage, fingerprint visitors, or track people across its customers’ websites. The script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com and sends measurements to Cloudflare. See Cloudflare’s description of its performance beacon. Network requests still involve the connection processing described above.
The Mac app checks the update service for available releases. Those requests and downloads expose network and request information to the update host; they do not send your saved matches as part of checking for an update.
Playing locally
Settings, solo saves, replays, local block preferences and the installation key used to sign chat messages are stored on your device. Local game files may also be included in backups you or your device provider configure. Solo gameplay does not require uploading your saved match to us.
Deleting the app alone may leave desktop save files behind. Contact Support for help finding and removing Devolution’s local data. Manage copies in device or cloud backups separately.
Multiplayer and room chat
When you use multiplayer, the game sends connection information, your faction, game actions and relevant match state to the host. Other players receive the shared game state and messages needed to play. A directly connected host can see your network address; do not treat a player-hosted room as a private or anonymous service.
The directory processes room names, reservations, connection details and short-lived rate-limit information. Hosted multiplayer games can retain server-side match checkpoints so a room can resume. Player-hosted checkpoints and any recordings or screenshots are controlled by the host or the people who make them.
Room chat keeps up to 80 messages in memory and disappears from that history when the room process ends. A public installation identity accompanies signed messages and can remain recognisable across rooms. The private signing key stays on your device. Other players may copy or report a message, so avoid posting personal or sensitive information.
Reports and support
The support form collects the message you choose to send. Reporting an in-game message sends that selected message, its public cryptographic identity, signature, message context and the reason for the report. Complete chat transcripts are not automatically sent to the support service.
A support ticket is accessed through a private receipt link. Keep it to check replies and verify access to the ticket; anyone with the complete link may be able to read it. The form does not require an email address. If you voluntarily include personal information in a message, it becomes part of that ticket.
We use support records to answer requests, investigate reports, manage restrictions, protect players and operate the service. Do not include passwords, payment information or identity documents in a ticket.
How long information is kept
- Local files: until you delete or replace them, subject to your own backup settings.
- Room chat: the room’s bounded in-memory history lasts for the room process. Copies made by others may last longer.
- Support tickets and replies: scheduled for deletion after 90 days, with expired records removed during requests or a daily cleanup.
- Reporting rate limits: an IP-derived identifier supports a one-hour limit; expired entries are removed during requests or daily cleanup.
- Room directory records: ended-room records become eligible for cleanup after ten minutes; directory rate-limit records after five minutes. Cleanup runs when the directory handles requests.
- Moderator restrictions: the restricted public identity remains until the restriction is removed.
- Hosted checkpoints and operational records: retained as needed for room recovery, operation, security and applicable legal obligations, subject to host configuration and provider retention settings.
Who processes information
Cloudflare provides the website, download delivery, directory and support infrastructure. Our managed game hosting also uses DigitalOcean. Their infrastructure operates internationally, including in the United States; information may be processed outside your country depending on the service and room host. Independently hosted rooms may operate in other locations.
Hosting and security providers process information to supply their services. Relevant provider information is available in Cloudflare’s privacy policy and DigitalOcean’s privacy policy. These do not replace our responsibility for information we control.
We do not sell the information collected through these Devolution features or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose relevant information where required by law, to investigate abuse or protect safety, or at your request. Chat and shared game state are visible to the participants as described above.
Your choices, requests and complaints
You can play solo, avoid sending chat, block other players locally, and choose what to include in a support request. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
Open a private support ticket and say that it is a privacy request or complaint. Include an existing ticket link if the request concerns that ticket. We may need proportionate information to verify the request and protect other people’s data. We will assess the request, respond through the ticket, and explain any limits imposed by law or the information we can verify. Keep the receipt link to read the response.
Where a legal basis is required, the relevant grounds depend on the activity: providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service and handling abuse, and compliance with legal obligations. You can also contact the privacy regulator in your jurisdiction; Australian privacy information and complaint guidance are available from the OAIC.
Children and families
Online rooms include messages from other players. Parents and guardians can contact Support about a child’s information or an online safety concern. Please do not provide a child’s personal information in public chat. We do not need a child’s name, date of birth or address to provide local solo gameplay.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when the described practices change and show the date above. If a change requires notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it through an appropriate channel before relying on that change.
